The word began leaking out midway through last season. Whenever Kansas State players were asked about the redshirt freshmen making an impression in practice, the name Justin Silmon kept popping up.
Not much was known about Silmon. He was a walk-on, not a part of the 2015 recruiting class, but the fact that a walk-on was making an impact is nothing new at K-State.
Silmon’s reputation grew during spring practice, and now the running back from Tulsa, Okla., is backing up the hype. Through three games he is K-State’s leading rusher with 205 yards on 36 carries after a 119-yard day against Louisiana Tech.
