Johnson, Iwundu persevered through tough times at K-State

MANHATTAN — Modesty and high self-expectations are admirable qualities, but D.J. Johnson has taken it to an extreme.

When asked to reflect on his Kansas State basketball career and what he is most proud of as senior day and the final home game approached, Johnson gave a surprising answer.

“I wouldn’t really say I’ve accomplished much since I’ve been here,” Johnson said, going back to his freshman year when K-State was Big 12 regular season co-champion. “I look at Rod and Tay (Rodney McGruder, Martavious Irving) and what they accomplished because it was their team and they won a Big 12 championship.
