Former Kansas State quarterback Jake Waters is getting into coaching.
Iowa State announced Friday that Waters is returning to the Big 12 as an offensive graduate assistant for the Cyclones. It marks the end of Waters’ quest to become a professional quarterback and a step toward a coaching career.
Waters, who came to K-State from Council Bluffs, Iowa, set passing records for the Wildcats as the starter in 2013 and 2014. He went 17-9 as a starter and helped the Wildcats to a pair of bowl games after coming in from Iowa Western Community College.
Waters set K-State’s single- season record for total yardage by throwing for 3,501 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2014, while also rushing for 484 yards and nine touchdowns.
