After 10 innings it seemed like neither team would ever score.
But Nebraska finally broke through in the 11th, and Kansas State didn’t have an answer in a 5-1 loss at Tointon Family Stadium.
“Somebody had to win eventually,” K-State coach Brad Hill said. “I thought we pitched it really well, but it’s one run on 11 hits unfortunately. We made some great defensive plays to give ourselves a chance, but just kind of fell apart.”
Nebraska (23-14) scored first on an RBI single from Jake Meyers in the fourth, but the Wildcats (16-21) got a sacrifice fly from Cory Wright in the fifth to tie the game at 1-1.
