Kayla Goth was the last player to begin practicing this fall and in the first group off the bench in Kansas State’s home opener Monday night.
It was only eight months ago that Goth had surgery to repair a torn ACL in her left knee. The freshman was injured two weeks before playoffs were to begin her senior season at DeForest (Wis.) High School.
Yet, in her short time in Manhattan, the 6-foot-1 guard has already became a valuable asset off the bench for the Wildcats (2-0), who host South Dakota (0-2) tonight at 7.
Even head coach Jeff Mittie has been surprised by Goth’s rapid progression after starting practice more than a week late because she wasn’t medically cleared yet.
