MANHATTAN — In its double-overtime loss to West Virginia on Saturday lies a large silver lining for the K-State men’s basketball team:
Barry Brown and the rest of the Wildcat freshmen appear ready to compete with the best teams of the top-loaded Big 12.
K-State, picked to finish eighth in the conference largely due to an exodus of players following last season that left the team with young an inexperienced backcourt players, forced a pair of extra sessions against the No. 19-ranked Mountaineers in their Big 12 opener at Bramlage Coliseum.
Brown, a guard that has managed to make a name for himself off the bench, paced the Wildcats (10-3, 0-1 Big 12) with a career-high 20 points.
