Erik Kynard came so close to winning the gold medal in the high jump at the 2012 Olympic Games, bringing home the silver medal from London.
As he prepares for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the former Kansas State All-American isn’t necessarily driven by that close call four years ago.
“It drives me less than 2014 and 2013 drives me,” Kynard said recently. “We’ve had the World Championships since then and a lot of things have happened. I just did the World Indoors and I was third so I’m more motivated from what’s current than what happened in the past.
