Cats hold on to beat No. 16 Oklahoma

An early lead turned into the Kansas State women’s basketball team’s 20th win this season as it took down No. 16 Oklahoma, 79-71.

The victory marks the first 20-win season under head coach Jeff Mittie at K-State and the first for the Wildcats (20-8, 10-6) since the 2011-12 season.

The Wildcats jumped on the Sooners (21-6, 12-4) early thanks to an 8-0 run by junior guard Karyla Middlebrook.

Middlebrook led K-State in scoring with 19, tying the second-most points she’s scored all season, with 16 of those coming in the first half. Middlebrook scored 27 in Norman when the Wildcats fell in overtime against the Sooners in January.
