Last year was a banner season for Kansas State volleyball player Katie Brand.
The setter followed up her stellar freshman campaign with an even better sophomore season, earning All-Big 12 First-team honors and honorable mention All-American honors — all while racking up the sixth-most assists for a season in school history.
As Brand goes into her junior season, her role is beginning to grow well beyond just that of a setter.
The Wildcats have no seniors on their roster for just the fourth time since 1977, leaving Brand as the most experienced player on the team when K-State opens its season Friday at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami.
