Big 12 contenders begin push for title, playoffs

As the only Power Five conference without a divisional championship football game, the Big 12 is in the midst of what it calls “A November to Remember” that has evolved into a four-team playoff.

Whether by design or circumstance, the back-loaded schedule has the four contenders — Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and TCU — all going head-to-head down the stretch. It began last week with Oklahoma State beating TCU, and Saturday’s big showdown has Oklahoma at Baylor.

“I guess it is pretty good marketing,” Baylor coach Art Briles said.

Kansas State has played all four contenders, dropping close decisions to Oklahoma State (36-34), TCU (52-45) and Baylor (31-24) while getting blown out by Oklahoma (55-0).
