The Kansas State Wildcats never have a top recruiting class, but head coach Bill Snyder is excellent at signing prospects who fit his system and can develop into stars. As we head towards National Signing Day on February 3 and K-State puts the finishing touches on another recruiting class, here's the latest news and rumors surrounding the Wildcats:
Bill Snyder visits K-State commit Zach Shackelford
Three-star offensive lineman Zach Shackelford (Belton, TX) made a verbal commitment to Kansas State in July, but is started to gain a lot of interest from other schools with just weeks left in the recruiting process. In an effort to keep him, Snyder made a rare in-home recruiting visit to Shackelford yesterday.

Texas is the other school that is pursuing Shackelford the hardest, and he plans to take an official visit there this weekend.
“I was kind of stressed about toggling with taking an official visit (to Texas), but now that I’m taking one, it kind of relieves some stress,” Shackelford told Orangebloods.com. “I’m just going to see how it feels, go with my gut. I’ve known (the K-State coaches) longer, have good relationships with them. At the same time, it is a business at the end of the day. I think either party would understand whichever decision I make.”
Shackelford said he plans to make a decision between the two schools on Monday.
Snyder's return as positive effect on recruiting trail
When Snyder announced on Monday that he would be returning next season, it was welcome news to both fans and recruits alike, according to ESPN's Jeremy Crabtree.
"For months K-State’s coaching staff has been deflecting questions about whether or not Snyder will be around for next season on the recruiting trial. While the Wildcats will still have to recruit with the fact that Snyder won’t be around forever, the fact that his health is in order and he is back again for 2016 helps give prospects some answers they’ve been craving."
Snyder is entering his 25th season as Kansas State's head coach.
