The Kansas State Wildcats gained an extra scholarship when freshman Ron Freeman transferred, and that has allowed them to really ramp of their pursuit of potential JUCO transfer Freddie McSwain Jr.
He is considering Auburn and Indiana along with K-State, and he says the Wildcats really stand out to him.
“I like their facilities, the coaching staff and the players,” McSwain told the Topeka Capital-Journal. “Coach (Bruce) Weber is a great guy and everybody seemed to be all together like a family.
“They had never seen me play but they saw me play my last game in my JUCO career. Coach Weber and coach (Chris) Lowery said they wanted to talk to me, but we lost so he didn’t want to bother me right then, but pretty soon after that we started talking.”
McSwain will announce his decision on Sunday, but stressed that it won't just be about basketball.
“The most important thing is my education,” McSwain said. “I want to get my degree (in biology) and that’s very important to me. I want to become as good as I can be, not just on the court but off the court, as a person.”
