Speedy Kennesaw (GA) wide receiver DJ Render has always wanted to play on college football's biggest stage, so when the Kansas State Wildcats offered him a scholarship earlier this month, Render booked a flight to Manhattan almost immediately and orally committed to the program in person just three weeks after receiving the offer.
“I always wanted to go big,” Render said after his commitment, via Kellis Robinett of the Kansas City Star. “Kansas State popped into the mix and I was interested right away. They were a big school that believed in me and my talents. I stepped on campus and immediately felt at home. Everything felt great so I committed.”
Render was heavily recruited by FCS schools Chattanooga and East Tennessee State. He also received interest from Syracuse, Wake Forest and Boston College, despite not having a star rating in most major recruiting databases.
“It is a relief to commit to Kansas State,” Render said. “I feel like for my senior year, now, I can go out there and ball out, have a great year and get ready for college."
