The Kansas State Wildcats reeled in a verbal commitment from 2016 3-star Independence (MO) Fort Osage dual-threat quarterback Skylar Thompson on Saturday, beating out Kansas, Iowa State, Colorado, UNLV and Wake Forest among others for his pledge.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder sees his move to Manhattan as simply a great fit.
“I felt pretty good about them from the start,” Thompson told Ryan Wallace of GoPowercat.com, via the Topeka Capital-Journal. “They were already really high before they offered because I feel like I fit the mold of their program on and off the field. They just did a really good job of recruiting me all the way through.”
While scouts see Thompson as more of a traditional pocket passer, he is ranked as the #17 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by 247Sports. He joins three-star Lincoln (Neb.) tight end Nick Lenners as the Kansas State's first early commitments for 2016.
