Every week during the college football season presents its own unique set of challenges, but these next four games are the closest thing to penciled-in wins on the Kansas State Wildcats' 2015 schedule. Here's our list of the 4 Easiest Games For Kansas State Football In 2015.
4) Iowa State Cyclones (November 21st)
This is the first game of a two-week run for KSU through the cupcake portion of the Big 12 ranks. The defense may improve with added experience, but it won't be nearly enough for the Cyclones to hang with quality conference competition after finishing 125th in the nation last season. Also, the offense is an inefficient wreck that, while sporting quality receivers, is threadbare both on the offensive line and in the backfield.
3) @ Kansas Jayhawks (November 28th)
Kansas has won all of 12 games over the past half decade, averaging out to a putrid 2.2 victories a year. New head coach David Beaty is left to fan the flames from the tire fire set by former coach Charlie Weis, including dealing with a mass exodus of JUCO transfers tabbed by a scrambling Weis as quick fixes. With just five starters returning to a roster that was already putrid to begin with, this is shaping up to be one of the most lopsided blowouts in an in-state "rivalry" full of them.
2) UTSA Roadrunners (September 12th)
UTSA was a quaint story in 2014 -- for all of two weeks. Former Miami coach Larry Coker's boys upset Houston and took eventual Pac-12 South champion Arizona to the limit, but it was all downhill on a bullet train from there. The Roadrunners return just three starters (all on defense) from a squad that backslid to a 4-8 record last year, and that was with what amounted to a veteran team! This year's incarnation with be inexperience AND awful.
1) South Dakota Coyotes (September 5th)
This is a cash-in opener for the Coyotes and the equivalent of an extended training camp walkthrough for Kansas State. South Dakota went 2-10 last season and gave up 37 points or more a staggering SEVEN TIMES. There's not much here (ok, there's nothing here) to suggest that the Coyotes are going to accelerate their retooling process on opening weekend in Manhattan.
