TULSA, Okla. – Compliments flowed for Michigan State after it riddled Miami in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Tom Izzo, however, could not help but point to the 12-point deficit the Spartans faced before 7 minutes had elapsed. Even the opening seconds were excruciating.
“(We) fouled two seconds into the game,’’ said the Michigan State coach, “which set a Michigan State record, maybe North American to be honest with you. So we can go both ways with our youth.’’
Michigan State (20-14) hopes to keep moving into another weekend, but must knock off a No.
