LAWRENCE — Late arrivals at Kansas are making favorable impressions at early football practices.
Tight end Moses Marshall and defensive end Vaughn Taylor, both walk-ons, were mentioned Thursday by Jayhawks coach David Beaty as newcomers providing a spark. Each was added to the KU roster at the beginning of camp.
Taylor lacks the thickness needed to compete on many downs as a Big 12 defensive end, but the 6-foot-3, 200-pound freshman could be used in particular situations.
“He would have to be a specialty type player to line up and play D-end,’’ KU defensive coordinator Clint Bowen said.
