Villanova beats Kansas 64-59, ends Jayhawks’ season one win shy of Final Four

LOUISVILLE, Ky.

The Kansas basketball team’s run has ended in the Elite Eight.

Second-seeded Villanova responded to every run by top-ranked KU, taking down the Jayhawks 64-59 on Saturday night in the Elite Eight at the KFC Yum Center.

KU’s end came cruelly. With 34 seconds left, guard Devonte’ Graham was called for a foul on a headlong dive going for a loose ball, picking up a disqualifying fifth whistle in the process.

When Kansas needed him most a few seconds later, he couldn’t help from the bench. With the Jayhawks needing a three to tie it in the final seconds, guard Frank Mason had a miscommunication with Svi Mykhailiuk, who entered as Graham’s replacement.
