KANSAS 3, K-STATE 3
MANHATTAN — One of the worst games in the inglorious football series between Kansas and Kansas State was staged as homecoming for the Wildcats in their old campus home, Memorial Stadium.
K-State had lost 10 straight against KU, including each of the games Doug Weaver coached since his hiring in 1960 as the Wildcats coach.
This toothless clash, however, came down to the end with K-State clinging to a 3-0 lead.
KU coach Jack Mitchell called on Thermus Butler, who had not kicked a field goal since high school, to attempt a 38-yarder with 4 seconds remaining.
