WICHITA -- Former Washburn baseball coach Steve Anson is among 12 inductees for the 2016 class of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, which was announced Wednesday.
After batting .349 during an All-Big Eight baseball career at Kansas State, Anson moved on to coach 24 seasons at Washburn and became the Ichabods’ all-time winningest coach.
Bob Davis, a graduate of Topeka West High School and Washburn who went on to a storied career in broadcasting, was also named to the Kansas sports hall. Davis recently retired after 32 years as the voice of the Kansas Jayhawks.
The induction ceremony for the 2016 class of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame is scheduled Oct.
