In a somewhat surprising turn of events, the NCAA agreed to Kansas' appeal of junior forward Silvio De Sousa. De Sousa will be eligible to play this coming season after initially being ruled ineligible for both last season and 2019-20 for impermissible benefits received by his guardian.
Assuming De Sousa pulls his name out of the NBA draft, this opens up Bill Self's options for lineup construction. De Sousa can play power forward next to Udoka Azubuike in bigger lineups, and can spell Azubuike at center when the team plays small.
It's possible this could be positive foreshadowing as to how harshly the NCAA intends to come down on the Jayhawks for possible violations that came to light during last year's trial of Adidas representatives.
