High-scoring Norman (Okla.) North High School senior point guard Trae Young, the No. 14-rated prospect in the recruiting Class of 2017 according to Rivals.com, will pay college basketball for Oklahoma starting this fall.
Young announced his decision Thursday in a noon ceremony at his high school gymnasium. Kansas and Oklahoma State were his other finalists.
Young, who averages 43.1 points, 5.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds a game for the Timberwolves (15-4), eliminated Kentucky, Washington and his dad’s alma mater, Texas Tech this week.
Before making his announcement, Young thanked Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger, Oklahoma State coach Brad Underwood and KU coach Bill Self for recruiting him.
