Like many basketball fans growing up in Kansas, Perry Ellis never really had a favorite NBA team.
Unlike his childhood peers, though, Ellis’ transcendent talent on the court translated to a standout college career, and as a result, he is close to claiming an NBA team through different means.
Ellis, the former KU basketball forward, will almost certainly end up with an NBA team in the coming days, whether it comes as a pick in the league’s draft at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (ESPN) or in the aftermath as a free-agent signee.
One of four former Jayhawks with a real shot at being drafted this year, Ellis is projected to go undrafted by DraftExpress.
