On Monday night, Kansas’ Perry Ellis announced that he would be back for his senior season. Three days later, Ellis pocketed some more postseason hardware.
Ellis, a 6-foot-8 forward, was selected as the Big 12 Conference men’s basketball scholar-athlete of the year, according to a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Ellis, a two-time Academic All-Big 12 member, averaged 13.8 points and 6.9 rebounds during his junior season, earning All-Big 12 first-team honors. Ellis has recorded a 3.25 grade-point average while majoring in Sport Management at KU.
It’s the third year that the Big 12 has selected a scholar-athlete for men’s basketball.
