Perry Ellis, Buddy Hield, Georges Niang among 10 finalists for Wooden Award

Kansas forward Perry Ellis has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the Wooden Award, given annually to college basketball’s top player.

A 6-foot-8 senior from Wichita, Ellis averaged 16.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in helping KU to a regular-season Big 12 title and Elite Eight appearance. He previously was chosen first-team all-Big 12 by both the Associated Press and coaches.

Other finalists for the award include Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield, Iowa State forward Georges Niang and Michigan State guard Denzel Valentine. To be eligible, athletes must have at least a 2.0 grade-point average while making progress toward graduation.
