The new-look Kansas women's basketball team made quite the first impression Sunday.
The Jayhawks got a combined 33 points from transfers McKenzie Calvert (USC) and Jessica Washington (North Carolina) and 77 total minutes from its four transfer players in a 98-71 exhibition opener victory over Fort Hays State at Allen Fieldhouse.
Calvert, a redshirt sophomore, scored a game-high-tying 18 points while Washington, a redshirt junior, flirted with a triple-double with 15 points, eight rebounds and eight of KU's 26 assists. Both sat out last season due to NCAA transfer regulations.
The 27-point win represented a larger margin of victory than any game last season for the Jayhawks, including exhibitions.
