Local sports briefs for Oct. 23, 2015: KU volleyball hands first defeat in sweep at Texas

The No. 7-ranked Kansas volleyball team suffered its first loss 20 games into the season on Friday, a 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 sweep on the road at the hands of No. 2 Texas.

The Longhorns (18-1, 8-0 Big 12) were led by Amy Neal, who tallied a double-double with 11 digs and 14 kills, as Kansas (19-1, 7-1) struggled offensively with a .155 hitting percentage as a team.

RED RAIDERS BLANK KU SOCCER:The Kansas soccer team lost a one-run match 1-0 to Texas Tech on Friday in Lubbock, Texas. Janine Beckie scored the only goal of the game for the Red Raiders — at the 55-minute mark — to down the Jayhawks (8-7-1, 3-3 Big 12).
