The Washburn volleyball team was unable to finish off No. 15 Central Oklahoma in Saturday’s regular-season finale, jumping out to a two-set advantage but ultimately falling in five 19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 26-24 in Edmond, Okla.
Leanna Willer (20 kills, 16 digs) and Liz Powell (19 digs, 31 assists) finished with double-doubles for WU, which dropped a marathon fifth set after rallying from a 14-11 deficit, but later failing to score on six match-point opportunities.
If the No. 14 Ichabods (27-4, 14-4 MIAA) had won, they would have clinched a share of the MIAA regular-season championship. WU finished the regular season fourth in the conference.
