Lawsuit: Woman accuses KU of lax oversight in rape lawsuit

LAWRENCE — A former University of Kansas rower who has said she was raped by a football player claims in a lawsuit that the school’s athletic department requires rowers to attend Kansas football games and encourages rowers to socialize with football recruits.

The allegations were made in an amended lawsuit filed Tuesday by Dan Curry, an attorney for Daisy Tackett, who has alleged that she was raped in Jayhawker Towers in fall 2014. Her lawsuit claims the university did not follow Title IX, which prohibits gender-based discrimination in education and requires universities to try and prevent sexual harassment and sexual violence.
