LAWRENCE — Though he once rushed 55 and 57 times in consecutive weeks during high school, Kansas running back Ke'aun Kinner admitted Saturday that 27 carries in a Division I game brought a similar feeling.
“It was definitely a grind,” Kinner said.
One that was worth it, though.
The newcomer was one of KU’s bright spots in a 41-38 loss to South Dakota State, rushing 27 times for 157 yards with two touchdowns.
He was the first KU running back pass the 150-yard mark since Tony Pierson did so against Texas Tech in 2012.
“We knew he was going to come in and ball,” KU quarterback Montell Cozart said.
