EUGENE, Ore. — At the finish line of his college career, Michael Stigler had no one left to chase.
The Kansas senior crossed the line with no one in his path and the rest of the NCAA field in his rearview mirror, cruising to a big victory in the 400-meter hurdles Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
“Hey, it’s a win,” Stigler said. “I finally got a win here, so I’m definitely happy.”
After finishing as the NCAA runner-up the past two seasons, Stigler’s first outdoor title was never in doubt. He started quickly out of the blocks and finished with a time of 48.
