Winning a 13th straight Big 12 Conference regular season basketball championship was a team effort by Kansas, but outstanding individual accomplishments were recognized when Frank Mason was selected player of the year, Josh Jackson freshman of the year and Bill Self coach of the year in voting by the conference coaches announced Sunday.
Mason was a unanimous choice as player of the year and first team, becoming the first Jayhawk to lead the Big 12 in scoring since 2004-05 with a 20.5 average. Jackson was the unanimous freshman of the year and also a first-team selection, as well as a unanimous pick on the all-newcomer team.
