Kansas sophomore basketball player Carlton Bragg Jr. was charged with misdemeanor battery after he was alleged to have struck his girlfriend and pushed her down stairs during an argument, according to the Douglas County District Attorney’s office.
According to prosecutors, Lawrence police responded to a 911 call about 1 a.m. Friday from the 1000 block of Emery Road.
Bragg was arrested by Lawrence police on suspicion of domestic battery against a family member. But the charge was amended. Cheryl Wright Kunard, assistant to the Douglas County District Attorney, said in a release that “Domestic battery cannot be charged under the circumstance because the relationship does not meet the statutory requirements.
