Mark Turgeon these days is known as the head coach at Maryland, and a fan favorite to be Bill Self’s replacement when that dark day comes (I think it would be a bad move, but I suppose that is for another time). He’s such a fan favorite, however, due to a fine playing career in Lawrence. Turgeon played for the Jayhawks from 1983-1987, was on the all conference Freshman team in 1984, and was the first Jayhawk to play in four straight NCAA tournaments. He also played on the Big 8 regular season and tournament champion 1986 Jayhawk team that advanced to the Final Four.
