LAWRENCE — After trailing most of the third set, the Kansas volleyball team found itself in position to cut a five-point deficit to none. Senior Tiana Dockery rose up high and set Missouri’s attempt right back for her lone block of the match.
A few points later, looking for the win, sophomore Kelsie Payne smashed home the game-winning kill, sending KU to the Sweet 16 with a 25-16, 25-13, 27-25 sweep against Missouri on Friday at Horejsi Center.
“I told them I’m not sure if we’re going to win this set,” KU coach Ray Bechard said. “But I told them we need to play better, which must’ve taken the pressure off.
