SAN DIEGO — The Kansas volleyball team made history Friday night.
The Jayhawks advanced to the first Elite Eight in school history with a 25-19, 25-11, 21-25, 25-13 victory against Loyola Marymount (24-9) at Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Kelsie Payne led the way for the Jayhawks (29-2) with 21 kills. Madison Rigdon added 10 kills, the last sending the Jayhawks to the next round. Ainise Havili had 49 assists and Cassie Wait added 23 digs for KU. The Jayhawks also recorded 15 team blocks with Tayler Soucie providing 11 block assists. Sarah Sponcil led LMU with 13 kills while Jamie Lea added 11.
