LAWRENCE — Jerrod Castro hopes one day to give back to Brennan Bechard — even if the former Kansas basketball player was his second choice.
The KU sophomore and Topeka native Castro won $10,000 at Friday’s Late Night in the Phog after he selected Bechard to attempt two half-court shots for him.
Bechard swished the second, earning Castro a $10,000 check from KU coach Bill Self.
“(Brennan) went up to me and said, ‘You owe me dinner,’” Castro said with a laugh. “I just hugged him like, ‘Thank you. Thank you so much.’”
Castro didn’t think much when he texted the word “Heed” to 53548 for a chance to be picked in the giveaway contest.
