Katie McClure scored in the 104th minute, lifting the Kansas soccer team to a 2-1, double-overtime victory over Saint Louis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.
With the win, KU advances to play either No. 1 seed North Carolina or Howard, as those two teams play Saturday. The Jayhawks’ next match will be Friday at a yet-to-be determined location.
McClure also scored KU’s first goal in the 19th minute, before Saint Louis answered in the 34th minute with a Maddie Pokorny strike from the top of the box.
“Both times we played them (Saint Louis), it was a really tough game,” KU coach Mark Francis said.
