LAWRENCE — A police official with the University of Kansas said more than $10,000 in damage was done at KU football’s Memorial Stadium overnight Sunday into Monday after the Kansas City Royals won the World Series.
Capt. James Anguiano, with the University of Kansas Public Safety Office, said about $10,500 damage was done when the fence surrounding the field was broken and the goal post was taken down.
The vandalism was reported at about 1 a.m. Monday, he said.
Anguiano estimated several hundred people were involved in the incident, which resulted with the goal post being thrown into Potter Lake.
