DALLAS — The July 8 attack on members of the Dallas Police Department hit home with David Beaty in more ways than one.
The Kansas football coach, who grew up in the area and whose father Buford Lee “B.L.” Beaty was a longtime member of the DPD, watched in anguish as a lone gunman fired upon police earlier this month, killing six officers and injuring 11 others.
On Monday, Beaty opened up his news conference at Big 12 football media days with thoughts on the massacre.
“My heart hurts for the Dallas communities and for the communities across the country that are suffering and in pain right now,” Beaty said.
