KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Round 3 of the Sunflower Showdown was decided early and became emphatic late.
Perry Ellis had 21 points for the Kansas basketball team, which shot 57.1 percent from the field en route to a 85-63 victory over in-state rival Kansas State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament on Friday at Sprint Center.
The victory gave the top-seeded Jayhawks (28-4, 15-3 Big 12) a three-game sweep of the Wildcats (17-16, 5-13).
Frank Mason pitched in 16 for KU, while Devonte' Graham added 11. The Jayhawks took a 15-point lead at the end of a first half which saw them shoot 59.
