KU basketball leading the nation in one stat

LAWRENCE — Bill Self is coaching the top 3-point shooting team in the nation ... and it’s not something he’s put a lot of thought into.

“I didn’t know about it,” the Kansas coach said with a smile when told about the feat Friday. “That shows you how much I look at stats.”

Whether Self had seen it or not, the fact remains: KU’s 47.2 percent accuracy from 3-point range is No. 1 out of 351 Division I schools, ranking ahead of second-place Western Illinois (46.8 percent).

Through eight games, KU also has the third-best accuracy of any team in the last six seasons, according to Basketball Reference, with only 2013-14 Gonzaga (48.
