Kansas’ 92-59 victory over Holy Cross was going to be another example of a grumpy Bill Self talking about how his team made shots but didn’t guard anybody. It was about to be another opportunity for the 13th-year coach to challenge his team’s toughness, to talk about how his team needed to figure out soon that its identity needed to be on the defensive end.
And then, just as it looked like KU was going to win with beautiful offense and so-so defense, the Jayhawks turned up the intensity in the second half.
