KU basketball advances to World University Games gold medal game

Wayne Selden came through when it mattered most, hitting a pair of clutch baskets in the fourth quarter to lift the Kansas men's basketball team to a 78-68 victory over Russia in the semifinals of the World University Games on Sunday morning.

With the victory, KU — playing as Team USA — advances to the gold medal game at 7 a.m. central Monday against Germany.

After KU fell behind 62-61 with 6:40 left, Selden went to work. He hit a stepback 3-pointer, then followed with a jumper to give KU a 5-0 run in 37 seconds.

The Jayhawks never trailed after that point.
