Clay Young, a 6-foot-5 forward from Lansing, will join the Kansas men's basketball team as a walk-on, coach Bill Self announced Wednesday.
Young averaged 10 points and 5.6 rebounds for Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2013-14. After sitting out last season with a knee injury, he will be a redshirt sophomore for KU this season.
Self said he learned about Young through KCKCC coach Kelly Newton, whom Self and KU assistant Norm Roberts recruited while they were at Tulsa.
"We brought Clay over in the spring and we liked him," Self said. "He’s a nice young man who does well academically and is fitting in very well.
