LAWRENCE — After arriving at Hoglund Ballpark at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Kansas coach Ritch Price knew the odds would be stacked against his Jayhawks.
Two extra-inning games had depleted the bullpen, and KU now was going to have to try to beat Texas with the wind gusting out of the northwest — in other words, straight out to center and left-center.
“Today was going to be on our hitters,” Price said. “We were going to have to outscore them.”
KU didn’t have nearly enough firepower, falling 16-7 to Texas while also dropping the series, 2-1.
