PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — A traffic light, as it turned out, was the perfect place for Sheahon Zenger to get his answer from Mark Mangino.
Zenger, the Kansas athletic director, had earlier this summer offered Mangino an opportunity to be inducted into the program’s Hall of Fame, the first olive branch offered by the university since the former football coach’s forced resignation in 2009.
After mulling the offer over, Mangino called his friend of nearly three decades to accept.
“I was driving down the street and I didn’t have to pull over — I think I was at a stop light,” Zenger told The Topeka Capital-Journal at Friday’s KU Kickoff rally at Corinth Square.
