That does not mean David Beaty can quit recruiting the position. Or, that competition at the position cannot be promoted through repetitions at practice.
But Ryan Willis is the guy.
In fact, he is perfect for a new coach attempting to resurrect a moribund program.
As a freshman quarterback, Willis follows the same timeline as Beaty does as a coach. Willis knows just one college system, the one Beaty wants to run. And, with each bright spot — many of which were evident last week when Willis attempted to rally Kansas past Texas Tech — hope for the future builds.
