LAWRENCE – The dormitory view was cool. Yhe goal posts, the hash marks and the guys colliding in helmets provided a stark reminder.
When illuminated on a Friday night, a chill haunted Ryan Schadler.
He wanted back on the gridiron.
The semester was his first in college. Schadler signed a scholarship to run track for Wichita State and was housed near Cessna Stadium, where Kapaun High School plays its home football games.
“It was driving me absolutely crazy,’’ Schadler said. “It was just making me so mad, so that was kind of it. I knew I could play at (the major-college) level.
