Brandon Bourbon is penciled in as a starter.
Assuming his body complies and lets him start the football season.
Injuries have tormented Bourbon ever since the tailback signed with Kansas after once amassing 451 yards rushing in a single game for his high school in Potosi, Mo.
The setbacks Bourbon incurred at KU stopped the clock that was ticking in Division I.
That left D-II as his football salvation. At that level, athletic eligibility is regulated by a different timer relative to semesters enrolled.
So Bourbon sat out from taking classes last spring (he obtained his undergraduate degree in sports management in May 2014), then enrolled at Washburn this fall.
